Overview
On this one day course, delegates will explore the causes of conflict within the surgical workplace and learn about different strategies to address this. This will include how to have difficult conversations, the art of negotiation and how to approach a challenging situation. If you are interested in this course, please contact education@rcsed.ac.uk

Aims & Objectives
The course aims to provide members of the surgical team with an understanding of the causes and impact of conflict in the workplace. It will give them skills to address and diffuse challenging situations and help foster closer working relationships leading to more productive teamwork. To enable delegates to support multi-disciplinary working as outlined in CiP 5 (Managing multi-disciplinary working) of the surgical curriculum, and provide evidence and support for the GMC General Professional Capabilities, which will help with revalidation.
Learning Outcomes
After completing this course, delegates will be able to:
1. Cite the effects of conflict in the healthcare workplace.;
2. Identify why conflict occurs;
3. Identify systems that promote conflict;
4. Offer or demonstrate a range of skills and approaches to resolve conflict;
5. Develop a listening skills’ framework.
