Overview
Is there a gap in your dental leadership skills? Do you need to demonstrate leadership capabilities? Visible dental leadership is more critical than ever as we move towards more integrated care through Primary Care Networks, and Integrated Care Systems, and a multidisciplinary team model of care. The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh offers a comprehensive and structured approach to developing leadership skills. The "Personal and Relational Leadership" module addresses individual growth and team dynamics, which are essential in dental settings. Including a live virtual session and a Learning Log with recorded lectures and activities provides flexibility for participants to engage with the content at their own pace while still having opportunities for interactive learning and bespoke feedback. Aligning FDL with the GDC’s Principles and Criteria for Specialist Listing, the framework of behaviours and outcomes for dental professional education, and the College's vision for inclusivity and innovation demonstrates a commitment to staying current with professional standards and adapting to the evolving needs of the dental community.

I really enjoyed doing this module and I learned about personal development with a different viewpoint. The course was well organised in small modules so could easily fitted into a busy schedule with being too overwhelming. each module was very interesting with a lot of new learning for me. It was very useful as Im at the beginning of a new more challenging leadership role, and this has set up my development plan brilliantly.
The learning log has made me reflect a lot on my management and leadership style and how to approach different personalities and how everyone sees things from their own perspective. To keep pushing myself outside my comfort zone and to have better confidence in myself and my abilities.
I really enjoyed the live meeting and how everyone was open and honest. also, how everyone was on different journeys s and on different career paths.so valuable having input from Lisa and the other experienced tutors. Really enjoy listening and learning from them.
The live meeting was very helpful in troubleshooting specific problems, and for those with a specific aim and target the group session was particularly useful. It put into practice some of the theory and was helpful to link to different drivers/personality styles.
This was a fantastic program. Was a very enjoyable program with invaluable input from very experienced educators in this field. The program was a great learning tool for anyone at any stage of their career. The time commitment involved, and structure of the course means that anyone can manage to fit the modules into a busy schedule. It gives a great start to further develop leadership skills and structure to your personal development plan. Highly recommend
