Surgical Anatomy of the Head and Neck: A Study Day (MRCS Level- Wade) (Online)
This course is designed to provide a comprehensive review of the important surgical anatomy of the head and neck from both a theoretical and a practical perspective. It is designed for Trainees at an early stage of preparation for the MRCS and clinical medical students. This course is a part of the Surgical Anatomy (MRCS Level) - Wade programme series.

Suitability
Trainees at an early stage of preparation for the MRCS who are involved in detailed revision, learning a region for the first time or who wish to identify gaps in their knowledge. Clinical medical students are also welcome to attend.
Relevant Grades: Medical Students, FY1, FY2, Foundation Doctors, CT1, Core Trainees
Course Format
The online course will consist of a balanced mixture of overview presentations and practical demonstrations using images of cadaveric specimens and other teaching aids.
As this is an online course, there are certain points that candidates should be aware of:
- All candidates must have a MAC/PC with admin access to install Zoom
- All candidates must ensure that they have a reliable broadband/internet connection to allow for video conversation plus a webcam
- A microphone headset is recommended but not mandatory
Course Objectives
The course is designed to provide a comprehensive review of the important surgical anatomy of the head and neck from both a theoretical and a practical perspective, and will also provide guidance to support independent study. There are two further courses in the series, covering trunk and limbs.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of the course participants should be able to:
- Describe the principal features of the anatomy of the head and neck
- Identify important structures on cadaveric specimens and the living body
- Demonstrate a sound capacity to visualise the regions of the head and neck in three dimensions
