Ultrasound Venous and Arterial Scanning course (UVAS)
Overview
The aim of this 2-day course is to demonstrate the utility of the ultrasound doppler machine to scan the greater and short saphenous vein for Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG) surgery. The delegates will be trained and assessed on the use of the technology in harvesting a good conduit.

Course Objectives
The aim of this course is to demonstrate the utility of the ultrasound doppler machine to scan the greater and short saphenous vein for Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG) surgery. The delegates will be trained and assessed on the use of the technology in harvesting a good conduit.
Learning Outcomes
By attending this course, you will gain the core skills of ultrasound scanning using a venous doppler machine. You will be able to:
- Demonstrate safe operating techniques of the venous ultrasound machines.
- Confidently handle and use the variety of ultrasound probes.
- Handle and scan the superficial greater saphenous vein and short saphenous veins.
- Identify and understand the quality of the anatomical course of the long saphenous vein.
- Describe the depth, measurement, varieties of vein branches, varicosities of the veins on the lower limbs.
- Discuss the practical problems, trouble shooting and safe use of venous ultrasound.
