Pre-hospital ECPR

10th December 2024, 19:00 to 20:00 GMT

Overview

Expanding evidence base suggests potential for significant outcome benefit by utilising ECPR in selected cases of refractory out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.  Time to intervention appears to be critical and pre-hospital ECPR delivery may be the fastest model that could be replicated throughout the UK.  This webinar looks at training and learning from pre-hospital ECPR systems around the world before focusing on a London feasibility trial and then examining plans for a model in London that could be replicated throughout the UK.

Aims

  • Explore the background, rationale and evidence for pre-hospital ECPR
  • Explore other pre-hospital ECPR systems around the world
  • Explore training requirements and governance structures
  • Lessons learnt in the only UK trial of pre-hospital ECPR

Learning Objectives

By the end of this webinar, attendees should be able to:

  • Explain why pre-hospital ECPR is developing as a potential intervention in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest
  • Understand the current evidence base and lessons learnt in other systems
  • Understand the complexity and unique requirements for training programmes in ECPR
  • Understand current provisions and future potential options for ECPR delivery in the UK.
