Post-Traumatic Trigeminal Neuropathy: Diagnosis and Management

17th June 2025, 19:00 to 20:00 BST

Overview

Post-Traumatic Trigeminal Neuropathy (PTTN) is a chronic pain condition resulting from injury to the trigeminal nerve, often due to dental procedures, facial trauma, or surgery. It presents as persistent numbness, tingling, or pain in the affected region, significantly impacting quality of life. Diagnosis involves clinical evaluation, imaging, and sensory testing to differentiate it from other neuropathies. Management includes medications such as anticonvulsants and antidepressants, nerve blocks, and, in severe cases, surgical interventions. This presentation explores the pathophysiology, diagnostic challenges, and evidence-based treatment strategies for PTTN to optimize patient outcomes.

Aims

This webinar aims to provide an understanding of Post-Traumatic Trigeminal Neuropathy (PTTN), including its causes, symptoms, and diagnosis. It will explore various treatment options, from medications to advanced therapies, and discuss strategies for improving patient outcomes through early diagnosis and multidisciplinary care.
