Prehospital aortic balloon occlusion for refractory medical cardiac arrest
Why, when, how, does it work?
29th January 2025, 19:00 to 20:00 GMT
Overview
In this webinar, we invite two international leaders in cardiac resuscitation to discuss out of hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) (where survival is less than 10% in the UK), a potential solution (REBOA), its prehospital application, related physiology/pathophysiology, the mechanistic aspects of the intervention and its potential impact and risks, plus some early experience/pilot data.
Aims
To present an overview of an intervention that may offer potential to improve ROSC rates and survival following medical cardiac arrest, which is scalable throughout the UK. This webinar will present research at the cutting edge of cardiac resuscitation.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this webinar, attendees should be able to understand:
- The problem (OHCA) and its impact on patients.
- The potential interventional solutions.
- The pathophysiological problem associated with refractory OHCA.
- The physiological targets for ROSC.
- What does REBOA offer as an interventional solution?
- How is it delivered, and does it work?
- What are the alternatives?
- The current application of REBOA in OHCA and early experience.
