Austere and Prehospital Ultrasound

3rd April 2025, 18:00 to 19:00 BST

Overview

Join Dr Tom Mallinson, Dr John Quinn, Dr Slaven Bajic and Aebhric O’Kelly for an insightful webinar on austere and prehospital ultrasound, which has emerged as a transformative tool in improving healthcare delivery in prehospital and low- to medium-income countries (LMICs), where access to advanced diagnostic imaging is often limited. Portable ultrasound devices offer a cost-effective, versatile, and non-invasive means of supporting clinical decision-making in remote or resource-limited settings. In prehospital care, ultrasound enhances the rapid assessment of critically ill or injured patients by facilitating early diagnosis of conditions such as internal bleeding, pneumothorax, or pericardial effusion, guiding timely interventions.

Aims

This webinar aims to explores the transformative role of austere and prehospital ultrasound in improving healthcare delivery within prehospital and low- and middle-income countries. It will highlight portable ultrasound devices' diagnostic and clinical benefits, discuss their implementation in resource-limited settings, and examine training strategies to empower healthcare providers in these regions.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this webinar, attendees should be able to:

  • Understand the Clinical Applications of Austere and Prehospital Ultrasound
  • Explore the Benefits of Ultrasound in Prehospital and LMIC environments
  • Discuss Implementation Strategies for Austere Ultrasound in Resource-limited Settings
  • Evaluate Training and Education Models for Ultrasound Use in Prehospital and LMICs
