Overview
This webinar will feature three interesting cases on diverticular disease (DD) and its complications, presented by leading global experts. We will explore surgical approaches to DD, including the latest in robotic surgery and discuss current evidence-based management strategies.
Aims
- Provide an overview of the current management of Diverticulitis
- Present interesting and challenging cases related to DD
- Understand different surgical approaches including lap vs open vs robotic.
Learning Objectives
- By the end of the webinar, participants will be able to identify optimal surgical approaches for complex diverticular disease.
- Participants will understand when surgical intervention is not recommended.
- Participants will be able to determine when antibiotics or conservative management is the most appropriate treatment.
Panellists
Our panellists include:
- Mr Savvas Papagrigoriadis - Consultant colorectal surgeon, with over 20 years experience at King’s College Hospital. International expert in diverticular disease (DD) amongst other colorectal conditions, creating the first Diverticular Clinic. He has published extensively, supervises PhD students and continues to lead research initiatives in the UK and abroad.
- Mr David Humes - Associate Professor and colorectal surgeon at Nottingham university with an interest in robotic surgery. He has a PhD in symptom aetiology and epidemiology of perforated diverticular disease, with ongoing post doctoral research in DD among other conditions.
- Professor Dale Vimalachandran - Consultant Colorectal Surgeon and Associate Professor at the University of Liverpool. He leads a colorectal cancer research group and Higher Research Degree Programme. He is widely published and has led international trials, supervised PhD students, and holds leadership roles in national research initiatives, including the DAMASCUS study and RCS.
