The presentation will focus on the causes, clinical presentation and management principles of upper airway obstruction with particular reference to the importance of the close working relationship between the anaesthetist and the head neck surgeon.
Aims
Review the management principles of upper airway obstruction.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this webinar, attendees should be able to:
- Review Airway Anatomy and Function
- Understand symptoms and signs of Upper Airway Obstruction ( UAO )
- Aware of the context and causes of UAO
- Understand the Basic Management Principles of UAO
- Understand the importance of the Anaesthetic / Surgeon Team
- Appreciate different techniques for securing an airway incl THRIVE
- Review management of a blocked tracheostomy.
