TADS, Fixed appliances and Clear aligners - Game changing mechanics
11th December 2025, 19:00 to 20:00 GMT
Overview
The orthodontist is now expected to treat complex malocclusions in daily clinical practice. Temporary Anchorage Devices (TADS) are mandatory to obtain idealistic goals. A myriad of challenges present when dealing with the transverse, vertical and sagittal planes that necessitate skilled use of skeletal anchorage. Clinical practice has also increasingly become digital especially in the use of diagnostic tools and digital workflow to reduce the number of appointments required and to ensure greater precision during miniscrew placement. This webinar aims to explore the research associated with TAD placement and how best to utilise this with clear aligners and lingual fixed appliances.
Aims
- The importance of first principle-based understanding of biomechanics of aligner treatment.
- How to treat different malocclusions with aligners.
- Why can’t aligners solve every malocclusion.
- How to make aligners perform better for our patients by adapting trim lines, attachments, staging etc.
- When TADS needed with fixed appliances and when they are needed with clear aligners.
- Examples of dealing with challenging malocclusions and clinical tips.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this webinar, attendees should be able to:
- Describe the advantages of palatal mini-implants to aid skeletal anchorage.
- Understand the variable success rates of TAD placement according to site and location in the maxilla and mandible.
- Describe the biomechanical differences of fixed appliances and clear aligners.
