ENT cases: head and neck

Overview
Miss Mendis will be presenting a webinar on a clinical case of an ENT immuno-compromised patient who presented with a complex neck abscess, needing several drainage operations and an ITU-ITU transfer.
The talk will include the relevant microbiology and radiology images highlighting the normal and abnormal anatomy. The images have been kindly provided by Consultant Head and Neck Radiologist Dr Jane Topple, East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust.
Panellists
Miss Dulani Mendis
Miss Dulani Mendis is a fellowship trained Consultant Otolaryngologist specialising in General ENT, Laryngology, Rhinology and Facial Plastics. She has worked in the NHS for 20 years. She has completed a UK Trainee Interface Group fellowship in Facial Plastics, a Canadian fellowship in Laryngology, an MBA and is currently completing further postgraduate Global Health studies. She is a UCL Surgical Society medical student mentor and is regular faculty in the UCL Surgical Society Conference, specifically the Women in Surgery event and is a STEM Ambassador.
Ms Emma Stapleton
Emma is a Consultant Otolaryngologist and Skull Base Surgeon at Manchester Royal Infirmary and Salford Royal Hospital, and RCSEd Regional Surgical Adviser for the North West. She is also a member of the RCSEd’s committee of Younger Fellows. Her clinical role and research interests include cochlear implantation, complex otology, lateral skull base surgery, NF2 and balance. She is a member of one of the busiest skull base teams in the UK, and also enjoys editing roles at ENT UK and ENT and Audiology News magazine. She is Honorary Secretary of the North of England Otolaryngology Society, leading a current drive to increase and enhance student and trainee involvement in the Society. She is Consultant lead for a national mentorship scheme in ENT. She is heavily involved in teaching locally, nationally and internationally.
