Updates in Spine Surgery and Management of Spinal Cord Injury

22nd September 2025, 19:00 to 20:00 BST

Overview

Join us for our first webinar in this new series, organised by the RCSEd Neurosurgery Surgical Specialty Board, aimed at medical students, surgical trainees and consultants with interest in spine surgery. The webinar will provide an overview on the most relevant publications in the field of spinal traumas and spinal cord injuries.

Aims

This webinar is meant to summarise the process undertaken to design and validate the classifications for spinal fractures and to present the recommendations from international guidelines on the management of patients with acute post-traumatic spinal cord injuries.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this webinar attendees will have a good understanding of the processes behind the designing and validating the AO Spine Classifications of Upper Cervical, Subaxial, Thoraco-Lumbar and Sacral Spinal Fractures.

The attendees will also be able to apply those classifcations in their daily practice and are expected to understand the rationale for the recommendations listed in the updated AO Spine Praxis guidelines for the management of patients with spinal cord injuries.
