Join us for the first of four Beyond the Scalpel sessions. This engaging session will be led by Ms Forsythe, a vascular surgeon with a strong interest in improving resident doctors’ working lives and tackling bullying, undermining, and harassment in the workplace.

Aims

This webinar on holistic surgical leadership aims to provide a deeper understanding of leadership principles and how to apply them in clinical and management settings.

By the end of this webinar, attendees should be able to:

  • Understand the concept of surgical leadership and it's importance in a medical setting and how to enact system change.
  • Learn the role and responsibilities of a surgical leader and the skills necessary to excel in a leadership position in surgery
  • Understand the challenges faced by surgical leaders in different healthcare settings
  • Glean insights into different leadership styles
  • Glean insights from Ms Forsythe’s work on doctor wellbeing and combatting harassment in surgery.

Panellists

Our panellists include:

  • Ms Forsythe - Consultant Vascular Surgeon and Honorary Senior Lecturer. Ms Forsythe treats diseases of the arteries and veins and practises in all areas of vascular surgery, with a particular interest in abdominal aortic aneurysm disease, peripheral artery disease and superficial venous disease. She has a keen academic interest and is particularly intrigued by novel imaging techniques to better assess arterial disease.
