Overview
This Webinar is aimed at General dental Practitioners, Oral surgeons, Special care dentists and paediatric dentists. The webinar will increase awareness on Osteogenesis Imperfecta in relation to dental care and also review the risks associated with dental treatment and the importance of an MDT approach including dentist's role.
Aims
To highlight to the audience the impact of Osteogenesis imperfecta on oral health and dental care needs.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this webinar, attendees should have more awareness on Osteogenesis imperfecta impact on oral health and overall dental needs for the dental professions. This includes treatment adaptation and treatment modalities required for delivery of dental care.

Dr Heather Cassie
Dr Heather Cassie is a Senior Lecturer and Baxter Research Fellow based within the University of Dundee’s Dental School. She is currently undertaking a 3-year THIS Institute Postdoctoral Fellowship. This study is using ‘Choosing Wisely’ methodology to explore the barriers and enablers to the reducing unnecessary tests and treatments within primary care dentistry. The study is underpinned by behaviour change theories, used to explore the behaviour of healthcare professionals and patients and explain variation in practice.
Prior to this, Heather worked across both the University of Dundee’s Dental School and NHS Education for Scotland’s Clinical Effectiveness Workstream for over ten years with a focus on the development and implementation of evidence-based guidance as well as education and service delivery.
Heather completed her CSO Doctoral Fellowship in 2017, which explored the organisational level factors which influence the implementation of evidence-based guidance in primary care. This was a multi-method study exploring the barriers and facilitators to the translation of guidance in primary care.
Heather has a particular interest in qualitative research methods and has carried out research across a range of primary care disciplines including dentistry, nursing, general practice, pharmacy and optometry. She currently teaches and supervises as part of the master’s in dental public health programme and supervises a number of PhD students -
Miss Emma Goodrum
Emma qualified as a dentist at King’s College London before completing specialist orthodontic training at The Royal London Hospital. I am currently working at the Royal National ENT and Eastman Dental Hospital, where I have developed a particular interest in managing patients with osteogenesis imperfecta, a group I frequently encounter in the joint orthodontic–paediatric clinic.

Miss Jasmine May Cachia Mintoff
Jasmine is a Paediatric Dentistry Consultant at the Royal National Ear, Nose and Throat and Eastman Dental Hospital. She has worked in paediatric dentistry for over eight years and has a particular interest in managing dental trauma and supporting children with dental anxiety. Her research interest in OI began with investigating oral-health–related quality of life in children with osteogenesis imperfecta, which led to a sustained academic and clinical interest in OI. Jasmine is committed to improving access to dental care, strengthening interdisciplinary support, and enhancing the overall experience of children and families living with OI.

Miss Fatimah Alsayer
Fatimah is consultant and honorary clinical associate professor in Special Care Dentistry at the Royal National ENT and Eastman Dental Hospitals. Her role includes the treatment of medically compromised adults, adults with anxiety and or learning disability. Fatimah has worked in a range of fields including hospital and community dental services prior to being appointed at Eastman Dental Hospital, UCLH. She currently chairs the specialty advisory board for Special Care Dentistry Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh and is an executive committee member of British Society of Special Care Dentistry.
