Cardiothoracic Surgery Training in the UK – an update

Overview
The webinar will provide information regarding the recently introduced changes to the Cardiothoracic Surgery curriculum including the training pathway. Recent and upcoming changes to the specialty examination format will also be discussed. The session will be of particular interest to junior doctors who wish to apply for training in cardiothoracic surgery in the UK and to current cardiothoracic trainees.
Aims
Educate the audience regarding the cardiothoracic training curriculum changes and how the national trainees selection, training pathways and specialty examination are being modified.

By the end of this webinar, the participant should be able to:
- Describe the current training pathway in cardiothoracic surgery
- Explain the changes introduced in the curriculum
- Feel more prepared to apply for specialty training
- Explain the changes in the specialty examination format
