The New Dental Diploma Examinations

Overview
The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh Faculty of Dental Surgery (FDS) has launched a new and innovative suite of examinations designed to formally access and recognise dental practitioners who have gained enhanced skills and expertise in a defined area of dental practice.
During this webinar we'll discuss the new suite of Dental Diploma Examinations, how these will credentialise dentists with a special interest / operating at Level 2 care in the UK NHS system and look at the examination process and format.
The first Dental Diploma Examinations to go live in 2025 will be Dental Sedation, Paediatric Dentistry, and the Restorative single specialty examinations, namely Endodontics, Periodontics and Prosthodontics. Oral Surgery and Oral Medicine Diploma Examinations will follow later. Each examination will comprise single best answer and clinical case questions which will be fully digital/ online. Aims
Provide an overview of the new Dental Diploma Examinations and how these contribute to a dentist’s career portfolio.

By the end of this webinar:
- Participants will develop an understanding of the variety of Dental Diploma Examinations
- Participants will understand the format of the examinations
- Participants will have an appreciation of the academic / educational level of these examinations and how these dovetail with a portfolio of evidence in relation to working as a GDP with a special interest.
