48th Viking Surgeons Association: Virtual Annual Conference
Hosted by Faculty of Remote, Rural and Humanitarian Healthcare (FRRHH)
9th September 2021
RCSEd’s Faculty of Remote, Rural and Humanitarian Healthcare (FRRHH) are pleased to present the 48th Viking Surgeons Association (VSA): Virtual Annual Conference.
The VSA Conference is an opportunity for remote and rural surgeons to meet annually to address issues, discuss mutual experiences, share best practice, and support one another in this challenging yet exhilarating area of surgery. This virtual conference is set to be an informative day with a panel of highly acclaimed speakers including RCSEd President, Professor Michael Griffin OBE.
This programme will consist of four major sessions led by experts within the field of remote and rural surgery with an opportunity for Q&As. Whether you're a student, a trainee, or a general surgeon there are great lessons to be learned to improve the standard of rural healthcare for patients and to support practitioners with a range of topics from Sustainability of Rural Surgical Services in Scotland to Training for Rural Surgery in Zambia.

The Viking Surgeons Association is comprised of a group of surgeons predominantly based in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland and various remote and rural communities in countries in the North Atlantic area. The association provides an opportunity for surgeons to address and discuss challenges, share best practice, and receive support within the field of remote and rural surgery.
FRRHH have been delighted to support the activities of the Viking Surgeons over the past year co-hosting what has been a hugely interesting webinar series exploring the different surgical specialties experienced in remote and rural settings. This partnership has seen the Viking Surgeons reach a wider audience internationally and showcased their experience and knowledge. FRRHH are deeply proud to have been able to support this series and look forward to further supporting the creation of educational resources that benefit the profession.
