The Faculty of Remote, Rural and Humanitarian Healthcare is delighted to present the next in their spotlight webinar series.
Through this spotlight series, the Faculty aims to bring updates on best practice, innovation and key developments within remote, rural and humanitarian healthcare.
The next Faculty spotlight series will cover an area of growing importance, migration and refugee health. This webinar will be co-hosted with Faculty Organisation Member, The University Hospital of Bern. Led by Dr Anne Jachmann, Head of Migration & Refugee Health Unit at the Emergency Department of the University Hospital in Bern, Switzerland.
Given the ongoing migration around the world, it is not surprising that we are increasingly treating patients with a direct or indirect migration background in medical practice as well. This poses special challenges for the health professionals involved. This webinar will explore the opportunities, challenges, and limitations of collaborations in the field of migrant and refugee health.
Aims
This webinar will provide an introduction to the basics of migration and refugee health. Key concepts like Social Determinants of Health (SDHs), 3-C-Model (communication, continuity of care and confidence) are introduced as well as a holistic treatment approach. Opportunities, challenges, and limitations of collaborations in the field of migrant and refugee health will also be discussed.

By the end of this webinar, attendees should be able to:
- Gain competencies in the medical care of patients with a migration background
- Recognise interdisciplinary challenges & interactions within the healthcare of refugees and migrants
- Familiarize themselves with key concepts within migration and refugee health
