The Management of Concussion and mild Traumatic Brain Injury in Resource Constrained Environments
8th October 2025, 17:00 to 18:00 BST
Overview
The worldwide incidence of mild Traumatic Brain Injury (mTBI) exceeds 12.5 million yearly according to the Global Burden of Disease Study. mTBI, including concussion, is associated with a number of disruptive and disabling consequences in all age ranges and qualifies as one of the leading causes of global morbidity. Many patients with mTBI go untreated under the assumption their condition will normalize spontaneously. While most do normalize, many suffer disabling symptoms and complications which escape both recognition and optimal management.
This webinar will discuss current approaches to the diagnosis, management and, of special importance, the rehabilitation of patients with mTBI and concussion in resource constrained environments.
Aims
The webinar will review the diagnosis and management, including rehabilitation, of mTBI in resource constrained environments.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this webinar, attendees should be able to:
- Diagnose mTBI and concussion and differentiate them from other categories of TBI
- Determine what diagnostic tests are indicated, if any
- Manage the condition initially
- Determine whether and when referral and evacuation might be appropriate
- Understand Institute rehabilitation after concussion.
