Overview
Manchester Foundation Surgical Society’s first skills workshop session!
“Introduction to surgery: cutting things out and wound closure.” Will be presented by Mr Azam Khan an ST8 General Surgeon at Wythenshawe Hospital. The session is aimed at foundation year doctors to go through the basics of removing skin lesions and closure methods. The session will also go through suture materials and the principles of wound closure following surgery. It will then cover the basics on reconstructions for hernia repairs.
This will be a really valuable session for juniors interested in surgery who would like teaching on basic surgical skills.
Aims
The webinar will aim to provide practical advice on the theory of removing small lesions from the skin and on the different types of suture materials that can be used and what influences this choice.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the webinar, the participant should be able to have a basic understanding on the theory of removing skin lesions. They should have a basic understanding of the types of suture materials used for skin closure and the factors that influence this choice.

ST8 post CCT trainee Northwest Deanery in General Surgery at Wythenshawe Hospital. Azam has a sub speciality interest in Colorectal Surgery.
