Acute complex ventral hernia

:Choosing the right operation for the right patient at the right time

21st April 2026, 19:00 to 20:00 BST

Overview

Acute and complex ventral hernias present some of the most challenging decision-making scenarios in general surgery. This webinar will provide a practical overview of management in both the emergency and elective settings. The session will cover operative principles, patient selection, mesh versus non-mesh strategies, and the role of minimally invasive techniques. Through case-based discussion, CT imaging, and guideline-focused teaching, the webinar will help participants understand how to choose the right approach for the right patient at the right time.

Aims

To provide a practical overview of the assessment and management of acute and complex ventral hernias in both emergency and elective settings, with particular focus on operative decision-making, current guideline-based practice, and the role of open and minimally invasive approaches.
