Case based discussions in Acute pancreatitis

Overview

This webinar will include clinical scenarios of patients admitted with acute pancreatitis and will cover the definitions to classify acute pancreatitis, timing of intervention, role of endoscopic, percutaneous and surgical interventions in necrotising pancreatitis.

Panellists

Mr Sanjay Pandanaboyana

Mr. Sanjay Pandanaboyana is a consultant HPB and Transplant surgeon at the Freeman hospital in Newcastle. Sanjay underwent his higher surgical training in the Scotland followed by HPB fellowships in Edinburgh and Leeds. His clinical areas of interests are pancreatic cancer and pancreatitis with particular emphasis on PROMS and QOL. He previously worked as a Consultant HPB and Transplant Surgeon in Auckland, New Zealand and holds the position of Associate Professor at the University of Auckland.

Mr Michael Silva

Michael Silva is a Consultant Hepatobiliary, Pancreatic (HPB) and General Surgeon at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Mr Silva is the Training Programme Director for Higher Surgical Trainees (General Surgery) in the Oxford Deanery and also is Director of the Surgical Advisory Network in the UK for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He was a Regional Surgical Advisor for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh for Oxfordshire from 2013-2017. He is a Fellow of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers, Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and is also a Clinical Lecturer at Worcester College, Oxford University. Mr Silva is specialist advisor to the National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE), interventional procedures program and is on the Editorial Board of the British Journal of Surgery (Open) and Current Surgery Reports.
