Overview
This webinar will cover the presentation, assessment and management of patients presenting with upper gastrointestinal perforations. Illustrative cases will be used, so that you can develop a sound understanding of how to recognise and deal with a patient with a perforation.

Mr Paul Gallagher
Paul Gallagher is a Consultant General Surgeon at the Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. He trained in the Northern Region after qualification from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. After a Fellowship in Adelaide he took up a post as a Consultant Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeon. He was the Clinical Lead for Upper GI surgery for several years and the lead surgeon for the opening of the country’s first purpose built Emergency Hospital: NSECH. Paul is currently the Head of School of Surgery for Health Education England North East & Cumbria. He oversees the training of all surgical trainees in the Region. He is a current examiner for the Intercollegiate Examination in General Surgery (FRCS) and former MRCS examiner. He is a Fellow of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers. He was the Training Programme Director for Higher Surgical Trainees in General Surgery and was also a Regional Surgical Advisor for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
Mr Amaran Krishnan
Consultant General Surgeon, York Hospital
Amaran started his training in the North East including studying at Newcastle University before returning to his home county of Yorkshire to complete his surgical training. He returned to Newcastle through the registrar training programme to complete an MD at the Northern Oesophago-Gastric Unit at Newcastle's RVI under the supervision of Prof. Griffin. It was here that he developed an interest in UGI physiology and reflux disease. He now works in York as a consultant laparoscopic benign upper GI surgeon and enjoys a specialist interest in functional UGI conditions including reflux and achalasia.
