When is intestinal obstruction an emergency which needs immediate surgery and when can we adopt a conservative approach?

Which are the common causes of obstruction that should always be considered and which are the causes we can't afford to miss?

This webinar sets out a stepwise approach to the patient with symptoms of intestinal obstruction highlighting dangerous complications to look out for and common pitfalls.

Mr Stephen Boyce

Consultant Colorectal Surgeon

Stephen Boyce is a Consultant Colorectal surgeon trained in Edinburgh, Brisbane and Sydney with a passion for minimally invasive, laparoscopic and robotic surgery for colorectal cancer. He is a Regional Surgical Advisor for the RCSEd.

 

Mr Michael Silva

Michael Silva is a Consultant Hepatobiliary, Pancreatic (HPB) and General Surgeon at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Mr Silva is the Training Programme Director for Higher Surgical Trainees (General Surgery) in the Oxford Deanery - Health Education England - Thames Valley.

Mr Silva is Director of the Surgical Advisory Network in the UK for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He also was Regional Surgical Advisor for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh for Oxfordshire from 2013-2017. He is a Fellow of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers, Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and is also a Clinical Lecturer at Worcester College, Oxford University.
