The management of gynaecomastia

Overview
Gynaecomastia is the enlargement of male breast tissue and is the commonest cause for men undergoing breast investigations. Up to 50-70% of men over the age of 60 will have a degree of gynaecomastia, and therefore patients can present to a number of different specialties from general medicine to paediatrics and endocrinology to, of course, the breast clinic. It is therefore useful to know how approach the condition and know what investigations to request.
We will discuss how patients may present to the primary or secondary care, and how to investigate and manage the condition in those settings.

Mr Dennis Remoundos
Dennis Remoundos is a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon at Oxford University Hospitals, taking up his appointment in 2016. He obtained his medical degree from Trinity College, Cambridge.
After working in London and Suffolk, Mr Remoundos settled in Oxford where he completed his Higher Surgical Training as a General Surgeon with a specialty interest in Breast Surgery. Dennis was an Oncoplastic Breast Surgery Training Interface Group (TIG) Fellow at St. James’s Hospital, Leeds, and completed a post-CCT Fellowship in Oxford, refining his techniques of breast conservation and reconstruction after breast cancer surgery.
He is involved in a number of surgical trials, as well as multiple trainee-led national collaborative audits, including: iBRA, (Implant Breast Reconstruction), iBRA-2, Margins audit, TeaM (Therapeutic mammoplasty), and played a key role in establishing the national breast surgery trainees collaborative group, The Mammary Fold Academic Collaborative.
