Money Matters Episode 4: Planning for Retirement and Key Opportunities
16th September 2026, 19:00 to 20:00 BST
Overview
This is the fourth episode of Money Matters, part of the 2026 RCSEd Wellbeing series, brought to you by the RCSEd Trainees’ Committee and Wesleyan Financial Services.
As your career progresses, the focus shifts from building your retirement benefits, to accessing them effectively so that you can unlock the retirement you deserve. This session explores the key decisions around retirement timing, including when and how to take NHS pension benefits and how different choices impact your income.
We’ll examine opportunities to enhance outcomes through Additional Pension, AVCs and broader investment strategies, alongside key tax considerations and the McCloud remedy. With a focus on flexibility and financial independence, this session will help you plan retirement on your terms, rather than reacting to constraints later.
