Supporting Surgeons after Mistakes

Overview
If you don’t have complications you’re either lying to yourself or not operating enough. This webinar utilises an extract of David Alderson’s play – True Cut, to facilitate a reflective discussion on personal vulnerability after an error occurs. This interactive webinar aims to explore our understanding of what we feel, why we feel it and how to develop appropriate support and coping strategies in the short and long term. There will be a focus on the role of peer-based social support in reducing psychological trauma following a mistake, particularly for trainees, to help change the culture and promote active conversation.
Aims
This webinar aims to promote interactive discussion as we reflect and explore the impact of making mistakes, positive and negative coping strategies and how we can support our colleagues and reduce feelings of isolation.
